SR-22

SR-22 Insurance is the type of high risk auto insurance you are normally required to carry after a DUI offense.

After a DUI or drunk driving charge there is a myriad of 'punishments' that you have to endure and one of them is paying extremely high insurance costs by being required to get what is referred to as SR-22 insurance.

What this is simply is a type of high risk policy that requires your insurance company to inform the department of motor vehicles if for any reason your insurance lapses.

The reason for the sr-22 notifying the DMV in the case of your insurance lapsing is so that the DMV can promptly suspend your driving privileges.  Your driving privileges will not be reinstated until you reinstate your insurance paying all of the penalty fees not only to the sr-22 insurance company but also the penalties to the DMV for reinstating your license and other administrative actions.

In general sr-22 insurance companies are different than your regular auto insurance companies.  These are companies that normally ONLY do high risk policies and usually only operate in the local area instead of nationally.  If you want one of the lowest cost sr-22 quotes you can find you can visit this page for a no charge no obligation free quote:
