California DUI Lawyer

Tells All About California DUI Offenses

If you've had a DUI in California then there are some important things to think about regardless of how long ago the incident took place.  Especially if your DUI offense was a long time ago!

There are some critical things you should know as stated by the most prominent California DUI lawyer , Mr. Lawrence Taylor.  Please read the below information very carefully and explore the additional resources we provide you so that you can learn how to help yourself.  Even DUI websites from other states will be of some help to you as you learn everything you can about how to help yourself.

First, California dui law mandates that the dmv maintain your DUI conviction on their records for 7 years.  That seven years is from the violation date and not whenever you were convicted of the DUI.  In addition, as your california dui lawyer has probably informed you of you have to maintain what's called SR-22 insurance to be able to drive.  No big secret, right?

But what you probably didn't know is that no matter how long ago your DUI offense was (even if it was more than 7 years ago) the California dmv will continue to report the DUI offense for 3 years AFTER the proof termination date or full reinstatement of your driving privileges.  So this in effect extends the time that your California DUI is on your record.

If you have a California DUI lawyer currently, feel free to ask and find out more information about this because it's important that you know these things when trying to move on w/ your life and pursuing different jobs where your dui offense would be frowned upon.

Second, if some time has passed since your California DUI then you should contact your lawyer and see about formal expungement.  Our guide discusses how to expunge your California DUI yourself (as well as figure out how to keep your records from showing up on a criminal background check if you are not eligible for expungement) but if you'd rather have someone else do it, contact your California DUI lawyer and ask for rates and eligibility.

Third, you should check your status in the National driver registry at:   http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/people/perform/driver/  to see what your current status is.

It really is important to continue to pursue clearing your record.  Whether or not you use us for that doesn't matter, just pursue cleaning your record one way or another.

Hopefully these tidbits of information taken from a very prominent California DUI lawyer , Lawrence Taylor's website (duicenter.com) were helpful.

Best wishes.
