F.A.Q
How much will it cost me to hire a DUI lawyer?
The costs for a dui lawyer are going to vary greatly based on their experience and geographic location.
As a general rule, the more experienced the dui lawyer is in handling dui cases and their success rate will make a difference in how much they charge.
The range of fees is huge. A general practinioner in a small community may charge only $300; where as a national DUI specialist will charge $7,500 and up.
In addition, the fee may vary depending on the following factors:
Is the DUI offense a misdemeanor or felony?
If prior convictions are alleged, the procedures for attacking them may add to the cost.
The fee quoted may or may not include trial or appeals.
Administrative license suspension procedures may also be extra.
The lawyer may charge a fixed fee, or he/she may ask for a retainer in advance - to be applied against hourly charges.
Costs such as witness fees, independent blood analysis, service of subpoenas, etc., may be extra. Whatever the fee quoted, you should ask for a written agreement and make sure you understand all the terms.
